On Family Connections

"You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family" - old adage

On Day 18 of the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona, Senator Jinggoy Estrada tried as hard as he could to prove that witness Anabelle Tiongson of PSBank personally knew Chief Prosecutor, Niel Tupas, Jr. It was revealed that a cousin of Anabelle Tiongson's was a political running mate of Tupas' brother in the province of Iloilo.

Cong. Niel Tupas

I saw how frustrated Jinggoy was as Anabelle kept on denying that she personally knew Niel Tupas. I could just imagine the embarrassment of Jinggoy as a Senator-Judge for not getting the answer he wanted.

I think Jinggoy must also understand that it is not automatic that Anabelle Tiongson would know a relative's acquaintance just because they are related.

Anabelle Tiongson and Jinggoy Estrada

I myself do not know my relatives' political acquaintances, if they have any at all. Those they know personally and intimately aren't automatically the same people I know personally and intimately. I may have heard of/about them them during family get-togethers or conversations, but that's about it.

I understand where Anabelle was coming from. The Tupas family had links with her cousin, and that's their business. Anabelle had her own businesses and acquaintances whom her cousin and other relatives had nothing to do with.

The bigger question is, so what if they know each other?  What's the point?

Happy weekend!

There you go.

There's always a first time

"All the world is birthday cake, so take a piece, but not too much."
George Harrison

Happy birthday, Rafael Anton!

That's my second child who's celebrating his 23rd birthday today.
Here he is today, all grown up and already working.

Here's the rest of my kids. Then and now.
Left to right: Tricia, Ramon, Anton

And this is my first ever blog entry after all these years of putting it off.
I've had and still have Multiply, Flickr, Facebook, JPG, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. but never a blog until now.
I never thought I would be capable of writing anything of interest except when writing for advertising  which usually runs for 30 seconds tops.

Nevertheless, there's always a first time.

So maybe, it's only apt that I quote one of my favorite people in the world about birthdays as this could also be some sort of "birthday" of my blog. Hello, George Harrison!

And hello, photos! I will also be uploading and talking about things, places, people and events that interest me a lot and share them here.

Like this, for example:

Biking!
Something I try to do every weekend (realistically, every 3 weeks) with my biker mates, the Adobong Baboy Riders.

Now, time for some merienda.

There you go!
